Terry Blade takes us back to the golden age of hip-hop and funk with his latest single, “Gibberish.” This breakbeat-driven track features the funky flow and smooth delivery of Terry Blade on the mix and is accompanied by a music video that is simple, yet perfectly encapsulates the mood and motion of the song itself. The video for Terry Blade’s “Gibberish” can be seen and heard below.
Terry Blade is well-accomplished singer-songwriter who has won over 30 awards for his music including Cloudzine Magazine’s Best Folk Song award for his song, “Mr. Robertson,” and as a black-queer identifying artist, brings a unique perspective which is rarely seen in hip-hop.
“Gibberish” includes very little instrumentation outside of percussion, which gives the track a unique rawness and drives the listeners’ focus to the words and rhythm of Terry’s lyrics. Having recently won an AVA Digital Award for Original Music in an Audio Production for his project, American Descendent of Slavery, The Album, Terry brings a more light-hearted approach to his latest single. “Gibberish” was release on all streaming platforms on April 16th, 2021 and can be heard on our playlist, Fresh Kicks: Boom Bap.
