Obed Padilla, a Chicano singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Oceanside, is redefining Latin Alternative music with a sound that reflects his diverse roots, which include influences from Mexico, Costa Rica, and Southern California. His new single, “Broncos y Benzes,” is a vibrant fusion of Latin hip-hop and street flair. With sun-soaked rhythms and rich cultural textures, the track immerses listeners in the vibrant heart of Latin America, filled with color, rhythm, and soul.
Talking about this new release, Obed expressed, “I’m super excited for ‘Broncos y Benzes’ to be out. I wrote it with Billy Mann and Aftrhrs. We reworked what we had originally created, and it sounds completely different from the original version. It came out really dope. Everyone who worked on it is incredibly talented, and I’m grateful to have been in the room with these guys. We had a lot of fun exploring different sounds and honing in on what I think is truly special and necessary in our culture. I can’t wait for all the new music to be released.”
This single follows the release of his latest EP, “They Told Us There’s 2 Types of Mexicans,” which is an eclectic, genre-blending collection featuring collaborations with Eddie Zuko and Austin Sexton, showcasing Padilla’s unique blend of Latin hip-hop. Additionally, he recently released a free mixtape on Bandcamp titled “Minute Made Mixtape.”
