Dublin-based producer Odd Numbers enlists a top-tier roster of Irish emcees for his debut album, The Golden Éire Tapes Vol. 1. This project spans several genres within hip-hop and features a wide range of artists with all tracks being produced by Odd Numbers. “Sticks and Stones” (feat. Citizen Black) is a track with boom-bap vibes and a twist of experimentalism.
The Golden Éire Tapes Vol. 1 is a perfect blend between old-school and contemporary hip-hop. Speaking on the tile of the project Odd Numbers stated, “The title speaks to the ever-growing movement and progression of the culture. The golden era of Hip-Hop refers to a period when the genre was at its prime. The sound was unique and experimental, the subject matter was authentic, and the commercial viability of the genre was becoming more prevalent. The last few years has seen Ireland enter into a similar period.” A reflection of this statement can be heard on tracks such as, “Maintain” (feat. Ritewell and Daly).
Odd Numbers credit the Arts Council for providing him the grants which made it possible for him to assemble such a feature heavy project with top names in the Irish hip-hop scene. The Golden Éire Tapes Vol. 1 is out now on all major platforms and is now playing on Fresh Kicks: Boom Bap.
