Modenine x Black Intelligence x Maka – “My Skin is Black (Remix)”

Posted on December 5, 2025December 5, 2025 By 6ixth Element

UK-based Nigerian hip-hop legend Modenine, alongside the soulful vocalist Maka and the visionary producer Black Intelligence, has come together to create “Thereafter,” a collaborative album that delves deep into themes of reflection, resilience, and rebirth. Through a compelling mix of razor-sharp lyricism, emotive melodies, and lush experimental production, “Thereafter” offers a timeless listening experience. The album consciously transcends fleeting musical trends, addressing profound topics such as personal struggle, emotional healing, the significance of endings, and the promise of new beginnings.

Their latest single and music video, “My Skin Is Black (Remix),” showcases Modenine’s skillful delivery of poignant, reflective verses that explore concepts of identity, resilience, and pride in Black heritage. His lyrics offer depth by weaving personal narrative with broader cultural commentary. Maka enhances the track with her smooth, emotive vocal performance, which adds layers of introspection and feeling to the song. Meanwhile, Black Intelligence’s production artfully blends mellow jazz-soul elements with classic boom-bap beats, creating a rich soundscape. This remix elevates the original track by incorporating more intricate harmonies and a polished, atmospheric quality, transforming it into a powerful anthem of self-affirmation and cultural pride that resonates deeply with listeners.
